Question
I have already paid for my trip. On the itinerary it says that I am a adult but I am really only 17. When in the process of checking in will this be a problem at all. When they see that the itinerary say that I am an adult when I am really not?

Do not worry about your itinerary saying that you are an adult.  For ticketing purposes, you are an adult because you are paying an adult fare, not a child's fare.  

I no longer remember the maximum age for a child's ticket, but I suspect that only children 12 and under can get the discounted child's ticket.
