Air Travel/e ticket

Question
This is the first time I'll be using e tickets. I'll be ariving in Orlando, from Milwaukee,  with a connecting flight to Key West on a different airline(Delta). When I get to Orlando do I have to go to the Delta ticket counter to get my boarding pass to get through security? The Delta Gate is in a different terminal. I assume my e ticket receipt will not satisfy security. In Milwaukee could I go to the Delta ticket counter and will they give me a boarding pass for Key West?
Thanks for your help,
Joe

Answer
Dear Joe,

When travelling on two different airlines, you normally have to be checked-in again at the connecting city (exception is codeshare flights).
But in order to try to expedite your connex in Orlando, arrive early at the airport and try to get the boarding pass for the Orlando-Key West segment with Delta in Milwaukee. I really do not know if they will do this for you, because they can risk to hold your seat and loose it if your connecting flight gets either cancelled, delayed or diverted.

Best Regards,
