Question
We rescued a female Akita about 3 years ago and I was amazed at how loving and calm she was.  In the last month she has attacked my sister's dog, killed a rabbit and attacked one of the other 3 dogs that we have.  I was wondering if this could be a medical problem or is it an aging issue.  We estimate that she is about 6 years old now.

Answer
Well, ill start off typing about the rabbit, akitas were originally breed as hunting dogs. And i here all the time of causes where there akitas regularly goes out and kills rabbits for food. The attacking of other dogs is probably just an aging issue like you stated. As they get older they less tolerant of certain things. And this can be fixed by limiting other dogs contact with her. I hope this helps
