Question
QUESTION: hi leslie,
I am an engineering student from India and i have applied to Auburn University,AL for fall2008.Do u have any idea of the job opportunities in AL..also cud u tell me more about the AID i could avail at the university?

ANSWER: Dear Nachiketa,

Auburn University has a very fine engineering school and there are a lot of Indian students here. We have recently gotten about 200 books in Hindi at the public library for our Hindi residents.

Are you asking about jobs on campus while you go to school or are you asking about engineering jobs once you graduate? I am no expert on engineering jobs, but I do know that a lot of engineers live here. I think it would depend on the type of engineering you are specializing in.

As far as financial aid, you will have to contact Auburn University's financial aid office for that. I have no idea on that one.

Please let me know if you have more questions or if I can clarify anything for you.

I think you would enjoy living here. Good luck.

Leslie

QUESTION: hi Leslie,
Thanks for the reply.I am applying for graduate study in Electrical & Computer Engineering,so do you have any idea about the jobs available for this stream after i graduate? Also what kind of jobs can i get on campus to support myself?are teaching and research assistantships available?

Answer
Dear Nachiketa,

You will need to contact Auburn University's International office to discuss on-campus or off-campus jobs. Their link is http://www.auburn.edu/main/international.html
I would contact them on Monday.

As far as jobs after you graduate, you should have no problem. You can search the prospects for engineering jobs on the Occupational Outlook Handbook produced by the United States Federal Government at www.bls.gov

Please feel free to contact me again about Auburn University or Auburn. Good luck.

Leslie
