Alabama/Nightspots in Alabama
Expert: Leslie Johnston - 3/14/2005
QuestionGreetings my dear Leslie,
We are 2 mature men who are travelling together from the "Big Apple" who are interested in touring your lovely little state. Could you recommend to us the best nightspots? We particularly enjoy the company of men.
Thanking you,
Bob (and Geoff).
AnswerDear Bob and Geoff:
I found a link to some bars of interest to you in Alabama:

I can only vouch for the ones in Birmingham. The 22nd Street Jazz Cafe is very nice. Good crowd.
If Club 21 is still open (I haven't been in years) it is very cool. Very "nightclub".
I think The Quest is very popular and would probably be the best choice for you.
I have heard of the Toolbox and would not recommend it. It is in a shady area of town and is a total dive.
You might want to try the Station on Morris Avenue. Morris Avenue is a brick-lined street and very cool.
If you go to Birmingham, your best bet is to go to Five Points South or Lakeview. Get a copy of the Black & White and Birmingham Weekly (free newspapers at any restaurant or newsstand). They will have listings in the back of local bars. I think anything at Five Points South, Lakeview, or the Southside area in general will have what you are looking for. My strongest hunch is that you should try The Quest.
Let me know if this helps. If you need more info, I can call some friends and ask around.
Good luck and peace,
Leslie
