Question Hi, I'm a huge Alanis fan as well, but I still have some questions about her.
First, is she of French Canadian origin (her last name sounds French)?
Second, who was responsible for Alanis' first incarnation as a pop princess in Canada? Was her original image contrived by her Canadian record label?
Finally, I know you must have been asked this question a million times, but here it goes again for a million and one. Who was the song "You Outta Know" really about? Is it about a famous person or just one of Alanis' unknown ex-boyfriends?
Thank you in advance for your responses to my questions. It will help shed some light on this amazing singer.
Answer Dear Tania,
Hello, thank u for writing to me. I hope to help you out.. Yes, she is half french(dad) and half hungarian(mom), and raised in Canada, which makes her pretty much French Canadian. She does speak french and hungarian. Yes, her first image of the "bubble gum" pop was contrived by her canadian record label.. They basically told her what to do, how to dress, how to act. Hence why Jagged Little Pill exploded into the music scene.. She actually was herself for that album.. She was soo angry and well, you can see how well the world/public received her "new" Alanis. On the last question, even myself am not sure to this day who the song "You Oughta Know" is "exactly" about. Though its been heavily speculated that it is about Dave Coulier, "Joey" from the show "Full House". Actually here is a link that might help you more..
Just press ctrl+F and type in Alanis he talks about her for a few lines..
But then again, it could be about someone else, a hockey player, right now I forget his name, but he did play for the Ottawa Senators.. Ok, so I hope I helped you.. Leave me feedback if you think I helped you.. Take care and thanks again for choosing me to answer your questions..
