Question
Michael,
We're looking forward to visit your country in July next year but from Belgium it's rather difficult to find the best trip to do. I have about 3 weeks and starting from Anchorage we intend to make a loop over Wassila, Denali NP, Fairbanks, Tak, Glennallen, Kennikott, Valdez, Seward, Homer and back to Anchorage. The issue is where to stay more days and what to see. I'm not asking for any homework, since I look around alot the web but do you have a good reading (book or site) to recommend and eventually places not to miss at all or trips as extension. My agent here only books hotels and get met in theer plus a car, the rest I have to manage myself, and that's what I like because I need a peaceful vacation.
Any info and advise is welcome.
Kind regards, Leo Jo from Belgium.

Answer
Hello Leo Jo from Belgium!

I have the perfect book for you before taking off to Alaska.  "The Milepost" is considered the 'bible of the north' and is exactly what I personally used during every single trip I made while living in Alaska...I would not leave home without it.  It is full of information about what you'll see at every town and everything in between, including hotels, parks, sightseeing spots, wildlife, gas stations, stores, and gift shops.

The Milepost is so worth the money to invest in, and I highly recommend it to any person traveling to, or, in Alaska. Especially since it has a soft cover and has easy-to-read pages with many photos and maps. Go to the website I've provided for you here to see what the book looks like and to order it:

Please browse that website and let me know if that is what you were searching for. Good luck and happy travels!

p.s.  I believe that website also has a link for people interested in this book who live in Belgium...you'll see!

Expertise

I am very knowledgable and experienced on where to go and what to do in ALASKA. I spent 3 years hiking and doing my wildlife and scenic photography there and can offer a multitude of traveling advice (and helpful hints) while in or traveling to Alaska.

Experience

I have traveled all over Alaska, including the end of the Aleutian Island chain, driven on every single named highway in and around Alaska (except one), climbed and camped out on Gulkana Glacier, and fished for halibut in Prince William Sound. I spent my finest hours photographing caribou, moose, grizzly, and bald eagles.
