Just found your interesting website. I have 2000 156 Selespeed. 70,000 miles. Have had normal problems with losing gear selection etc previously. Also slight oil leak has become very bad from gearbox selepeed actuator end. Have to top up selespeed oil tank every few days. Where is leak from, any seals behind casing? Easy/hard fix? I'm pretty handy as a repairer. No manuals available. Its clean gearbox/selespeed oil. Thanks in advance. Dave.

The hard part is getting access/removing the unit. Transmissions tend to be easy to work on if you keep everything clean. I suspect it is a seal causing the leak...

Answer
I am in the USA and do not have access to newer manuals. However, replacing a seal is a very standard procedure with any automotive component. Get a repair manual for a comparable transmission and you will have a good idea of what to do. That seal might be removed from the outside but getting the shaft out of the way would entail pulling a cover.
