Questionim a home school parent and i was directed to this site by another parent and i have a daughter she is in 10th grade and im really stuck with these word problems that were asigned to her and i would love to get the answer so when she takes her test that i have to give i can have the answer i have been struggling please help me.
1. One number is three more than twice the other, and their sum is 27. find the numbers
2. The sum of three consecutive integral numbers is 117. Find the numbers.
3.The sum of three consecutive integers is 21 more than the smallest integer. find the numbers
4. One number is 800 less than three times the other, and their sum is 1200. find the numbers
5.The length of a rectangle is 3 times the width, and the perimeter is 22. find the dimensions of the rectangle.
6.One of two complementary angles is 4 degrees more than the other. find the angles
7. One of two supplementary angles is 5 times the other. find the angles.
8. The length of the base of an isosceles triangle is 4 inches less than the length of one of the two equal sides of triangle. If the perimeter is 32, find the three sides of the triangle.
9. Frank is twice as old as henry. if the sum of their ages is 45 find their ages.
10. Joe is ten years older than james. in eight years, twice joe's age will eual three times james's age. how old is each at present.
11. A man has two more nickels than dimes. he has $1.15 in all. how many coins of each kind has he?
12. Betty has ten more dimes than quaters, If she has $3.45, how many coins has she?
13. One number is five more than another and their sum is three less than three times the samller. find the numbers.

14. At 10:00 am two palnes leave and airport. if the northbound plane flies at 280 mph and the southbound at 320 mph, at what time will they be 1,000 miles apart?
15. A "Local" leaves a station and runs at an average rate of 35 mph. An hour and a half later an "Express" leaves the station and travels at an average rate of 56 mph on a parallel track. How many hours after it starts will the Express overtake the Local.
16. Al goes 8 mph; Ben goes 20 mph in the opposite direction. How many hours has Ben traveled when they are 180 miles apart?
17. Bill started west on road U.S. %0, riding a bicycle at an average rate of 9 mph. Four hours later Charles started after Bill on a motorcycle and overtook him in 2 hours. What was charles rate?
18. A train traveling 50 mph left a station 30 minutes before a second train running at 55 mph. How soon did the second train over take the first?
19. Dick can run the 440 yard dash in 55 seconds, and jack can run it in 88 seconds. How great a handicap must Dick give jack for the boys to finish th erace at the same time?
20. A private plane can make a 125-mile trip in a half hour when flying against a certain head wind. Flying with the same wind, it can make the trip in 25 minutes. find the speed of the wind and the plane's air speed.
21. With a certain tail wind an airplane reached its destination, 630 miles away, in 1 1/2. flying back against the same wind, the plane took 15 minutes longer to make the trip. find the wind speed and the plane's airspeed.
22. Mac and his brother Ted collect coins. mac's collection contains 8 more than twice as many coins as ted's. if the total number of coins in two collections is 74, how many coins are in each collection?
23. The length of a rectaangle is 3 times its width. if the length were increased by 2 inches and the iwdth by 1 inch, the new perimeter would be 62 inches. what are the present length and width?
24. The length of a rectangle is 2 inches less than 3 tomes the number of inches in its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 28 inches, what are the width and length of the rectangle?
25. Ann is 12 years old. her mother is 3 times as old as ann. how many years ago was her mother 4 times as old as ann.
26. The school librarian said, we have 10 more than 3 tomes as many books as we had 5 years ago. if the library now has 1,510 books how many did it have 5 years ago?
27. How many pounds of cashew nuts worth 75 cents a pound must be mixed with 10 pounds of pecans worth $1.50 a pound to make a mixture worth $1.00 a pound.
28. Maple syrup woth $6.00 a gallon and corn syrup woth 80 cents a gallon are used to make a mixture worth $2.36 a gallon. how many gallons of each kind of syrup are needed to make 50 gallons of mixture?
29. A boy has twice as many nickels than dimes and 5 more half dollars than nickels. if the total value of the coins is $6.10, how many of each coin has he?
30. A purse contains 21 coins conc=sisting of anickels and dime. find the number of coins of ech kind if total value is $1.65.
31. Carol bought 36 two cent and three cent stamps for $1.00. how many stamps of each kind did she buy
32. the capacities of two trucks are 3 tons and 5 tons respectively. if the smaller truck makes 18 more trips than a larger, it can deliver 12 more tons of frieght than the larger. how may trips does each truck make.
