How do you solve 7 - 5u = -43?

Answer
you can add or subtract the same thing from both sides of an equals sign without changing the result.  so subtract 7 from each side to get -5u = -50.  You can also multiply or divide both sides by the same thing to here you divide both sides by -5 to get u = 10
