Question
knew this 36 years ago in high school darn. won games plus (how many more) divided by total games plus (how many more) equals a particular percentage

w + X/T + X = P

324 + X/371 + X = .88 or .99

I just cannot remember how to move the various elements around.  thank you for your help

Answer
1) I assume you want to solve for X.  So multiply each term by T to get wT +X +XT = PT, then X = T(P-w)/(1+T)
However, that equation can't be correct.  For one thing, .88 or .99 is a fraction, not a percent.  Maybe you mean 88 or 99.  Even so, X would have to be negative to satisfy that 2nd equation.
