Question
Hello
I am completely unable to learn through memorization. I have failed Algebra 1, and algebra 2 far more times than I am willing to admit here. For me to learn I need to know what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Attempting to mindlessly rearranging numbers and letters for no discernable reason for all these years is about to make me give up on college. Can you recommend and books, software, or websites that teach applied algebra?
Thanks

Answer
There are various study guides available in book stores such as the Schaum series.  I've never taught algebra, I've just been using it for 60 years.
Well, excuse me.  I thought I was being helpful.  I've answered over 800 questions on this web site and have an overall rating of 9.8.
I offer to answer questions because I enjoy doing it. Unfortunately, algebra or most any other subject requires a certain amount of memorization.  I'm sure your college has a bookstore.  Between that and your algebra teacher hopefully you can get the help you obviously need.
