Question
I am supposed to add and simplify by collecting like radical terms.

sqrt 5a + 7 sqrt 45a^3

Answer
For √(45a^3), that can be split up so that it is √9√5√aČ√a.

This can be seen to be 3a√(5a).

Noting that we had a 7 out front gives 7*3a√(5a) = 21a√(5a).

Adding that to the first term, which is √(5a) gives

√(5a) + 21a√(5a) = (1 + 22)√(5a) = 23√(5a).
