Algebra/need help with slope intercept

Question
How do I write the equation in the slope-intercept form?
4x - 10y = 11

Answer
To put it in slope-intercept form, it needs to be y = mx + b.
In that case, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

1st, add -4x to both sides and get -10y = -4x + 11.

Next, divide both sides by -10.  This gives y = (-4x + 11)/10.

Last, divide each term on the right side by 10.  This gives y = -0.4x + 1.1.

Form here, we can now say that the slope is m=-0.4 and the y-intercept is b=y=1.1.
