Question My uncle wants me to help with an algebra assignment, their all pretty easy equations, I just don't know what the ^ symbol is for. can you help?
Answer The ^ symbol is used, for example, for 6^2 = 6*6 = 26; 5^3 = 5*5*5 = 125; 3^4 = 3*3*3*3=81.
Basically, what ever comes after the ^ is a power on the numbers.
If it is a 7, multiply the number by itself 7 times.
2^1 = 2
2^2 = 2*2 = 4
2^3 = 2*2*2 = 8
2^4 = 2*2*2*2 = 16
2^5 = 2*2*2*2*2 = 32
There's the explanation.
So x^2•y^3 = x*x*y*y*y.
