Question
trying to help my daughter in 9th grade algebra.  Her semester grade with be 45% quarter one grade which is a 69, 45% quarter 2 and 10% final exam.  What would she have to get on quarter 2 grade and final to get a C in the class.  A grade of C in her school is equal to 73%.  We would like to build a spread sheet to do what if.  tried .45*69+ .45X + .10x ? stumped.  have studied other problems available on internet and I just can't get.

Answer

Two Extremes
So I assume that you're saying that the semester grade is 45% of the two quarter grades
plus 10% of the grade on the final exam.

Your answer is almost right.  The final grade will be 0.45(69) + 0.45x + 0.10y
where x is the grade on the second test and y is the grade on the final.

I will send a table.  It is important to score the most on the second test.
