Question
I have a few Algebra questions. I really need some help.

1. 2 binomial factors of 6s^2+40s-64
2. values of p^2+13p-30=0
3. values of 2n^2-7n+6=0
4. values of 4-4y-y^2=0
5. values of r^2-7r-8=0
6. values of z^2-4z+4=0
7. discriminant in x^2+11x+121=x+96
8. how many real numbers does -4j^2+3j-28=0 have?
9. values of y^2+4=7

Answer
Hello Kristin,

1. First look for common factor(s)...in this case a "2"
.. ==> 2(3s^2+20s-32)=2(3s^2-4s+24s-32)=2[s(3s-4)+8(3s-4)]
.. =2(s+8)(3s-4)

2. Factored: (p-2)(p+15)=0 ==> p-2=0 OR p+15=0 ==> p=2 or p=-15

3. Factored: (2n-3)(n-2)=0 ==> 2n-3=0 or n-2=0 ==> n=3/2 or n=2.

Get the idea?  just factor, then with the other side equal to zero,
you set each factor = 0 then solve.  If you cannot factor, then use
the quadratic formula: x=[-b + or - sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)]/(2a)

OK?  Try the others yourself, if you still cannot get them, let me know.
