Question
Question is show that the curve of intersection of the surfaces x^2+2y^2-z^2+3x+z=1 and 2x^2+4y^2-2z^2-5y=0 lies in a plane.

im not sure how to approach this becase of the squared terms. also im not sure if this question is asking to find the equation of the line of intersection. any help would be great

Hello Olivia,

Let me give you a hint: Multiply the first equation by 2. Then substract the second equation from the first one (or vice-versa). That will give you the equation of a plane. You don't even have to find the line of intersection because, whatever it is, you already know it has to lie in this plane.
