Question
A team has won 71 games out of 116 played. If the team on average wins 3 games out of 4, how many games must be played to get the percentage of games won to 66.6666...% (2/3)?

Answer
We need the fraction of game to be 2/3.  Currently it is 71/116.

I could do it by incrementing the number wond and looking at the percentage:
If the win 4 more, the percentage will be 5/8.
If they win 9 more, it will be 16/25.
If they win 19 more, it will be 90/135 = 18/27 = 2/3, and that's it.

What we need is (71+x)/(116+x) = 2/3, where x is an integer.
This means that 3(71+x) = 2(116+x) => 213 + 3x = 232 + 2x => 3x - 2x = 323 - 213 => x = 19.
