Question
M+2M+1=7 HOW DO I SOLVE

Answer
Note that M + 2M is really 1M + 2M.
This means our equation is really 1M + 2M + 1 = 7.

Factoring the M out on the left side gives (1+2)M + 1 = 7,
so the problem is 3M + 1 = 7.

Subtract 1 from both sides, so we have 3M + 1 - 1 = 7 - 1.
Now 1 - 1 = 0 and 7 - 1 = 6, so this is 3M = 6.

The last thing to do is to divide both sides by 3, so M = 6/3.
Since 6 = 3 + 3, it can be seen that 3 goes into 6 twice.
