Question
a rectangular prism has length l, width w, and height h. what is the length of the diagonal a to b in terms of l, w, and h?

Answer
The diagonal of a rectanglular prism is just like the diagonal of a triangle,
only in 3 dimensions instead of two.

For a triangle with sides a and b, the diagonal is √(a²+b²).

For this rectangular prism with sides l, w, and h, it is √(l²+w²+h²).
