Question
(x+1)/x = -7/(x-12)

Answer
Take (x+1)/x = -7/(x-12) and multiply both sides by x(x-12).
This gives (x+1)(x-12) = -7x.

Multiply out the left side, then add 7x to it.
This gives x² - 11x - 12 + 7x = 0.

The formula is x² - 4x - 12.

Note that the factors of -12 are 2 and -6.
This says the factors are (x-6)(x+2).
