So that total fare is found by knowing that it is 30 for the first 500m and 1 for each additional 500m.
If the distance is less than 500m, the fee is 30.
It x is greater than 500m, the fee is 30+(x-500)/500 = 30 + (x/500) - 1 = 29 + (x/500).
This will generate a horizontal line out to 500m at height 30 and then upwards sloping at 1/500.
