Question
Mel's recent scores when blowing were 78,89,98,67,and 90. what must he score for the next game to have an average of at least an 85?

Answer
Since he has 5 scores already, one more score will make 6.
That means (78+89+98+67+90+x)/6 = 85.

To solve, multiply both sides by 6, giving 78+89+98+67+90+x = 510.
I believe the sum on the left is 422, so subtract that
from both sides and there is the minimum the score must be.
