Question
I have been trying to find the roots for this equation:

g(x)= x^4-6x^2+8x+8

I have tried using the rational roots theorem and synthetic divison to fing these roots and I just can't figure it out.
Can you help me solve this problem??

Answer
There aren't any rational roots.  
g(0) = 8 and g(-1) = -5 so there's a root between 0 and -1 which you can approximate by trial and error.  
g(-2) = -16 and g(-3) = 11 so there's another root between -2 and -3.  
the other two roots are probably imaginary.
