Question
x+4    3
---- + ---
2x+6   x+3

Answer
This is easier to translate when written as (x+4)/(2x+6) + 3/(x+3).
That way the lines don't have to line up.

Note that 2x+6 is 2(x+3); that means all we need to do is multiply the 2nd fraction by 2/2.
Now 2*3 = 6 and 2(2x+3) is 2x + 6, so we have (x+4)/(2x+6) + 6/(2x+6).

Since they have the same denominator, they can be combined.
This gives (x+4 + 6)/(2x+6) = (x+10)/(2x+6).

That could also have a 2 factored out of the denominator and be written as (x+10)/[2(x+3)].
