Question
Help! These problems are confusing.

1.) x/6 - x/8= 1 ( the slant means division)

2.) x/x-2 - x+1/x = 8/ x^2-2x

3.) 5/x+6 + 2/x^2+7x+6 = 3/x+1

4.)2/5 = x-2/20

5.) w+3/4w / w-3/2w (it's one fraction divided by another)
6.) Simplify : Rt= 1/1/R^1 + 1/R^2

Answer
1) multiply each term by 24 to get 4x-3x = 24 so x = 24
2) for clarity you need to write it
x/(x-2) -(x+1)/x = 8/(x^2-2x)
multiply each term by (x^-2x) to get
x^2 -(x+1)(x-2) = 8
x^2 -x^2 +x +2 = 8 so x = 6
3) 5/(x+6) +2/[(x+6)(x+1)] = 3/(x+1)
multiply each term by (x+6)(x+1) to get
5(x+1) +2 = 3(x+6) so x = 11/2
4) 2/5 = (x-2)/20 cross multiply to get 40 = 5x-10, x = 10
5) (w+3)/[2(w-3)]
6) can't do much with that
