Question
8. Your are shopping for cassettes and CDs. Cassettes cost $7, CDs cost $14, and you have $28 to spend.

a. Use a graph to determine how many cassettes and CDs you can buy.

b. List two solutions and explain what they mean.

Answer
Hello Regina,

Let x=# of cassettes you buy & y=# of CD's you buy.

Thus, 7x+14y=28 (assuming no tax, and you spend ALL your $)

Rearranging gives: y=-x/2 + 4 (now graph this...then
you can search for solutions by seeing where both x and y
are whole numbers).

Here are all possible solutions:
x=0 & y=4
x=2 & y=3
x=4 & y=2
x=6 & y=1
x=8 & y=0

OK?  Do you understand?
