Question
A MAN DRIVES X MILES THE FIRST DAY, Y MILES THE SECOND DAY, AND Z MILES THE THIRD DAY AVERAGE MILEAGE COVERED PER DAY IS

Answer
Hi Linda,

To get the average miles driven per day, you take the sum of all the miles driven divided by the number of days.  For example, if someone drove 100 miles on day one and 200 miles on day two, their average miles per day would be 100 plus 200 divided by 2.  (300/2 = 150 miles per day).

For this problem, the total miles driven is  X + Y + Z and the number of driving days is 3.  So the average would be

Average = (X + Y + Z)/3

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Good Luck.
