QuestionI have a few questions
1.) Solve for x by completing the square: x squared + 6x = 2
2.) One leg of a right triangle is 2 inches smaller than the hypotenuse. The other leg is 5 inches long. What are the lengths of the unknown leg and hypotenuse?
3) The cost of producing calculus books is given by C = 25x + 200. The revenue generated by sales of books is R = 65x. How many books must be sold to break even. What will the profit be if 100 books are sold.
4.) Find the equation for the line passing through (2,1) with slope 5/2.
5.) Factor 36x squared - 1
6.) Solve for x:
x squared - 7x - 3 = 0
Answer1) x^2 +6x +9 = 11
(x+3)^2 = 11, x = -3 +/- (11)^1/2
2) (x-2)^2 +5^2 = x^2 so x = 29/4 and the other side is 21/4
3) P = R -C = 40x -200
to break even x = 5
for 100 books, P = 3800
4) y = (5/2)x -4 or 2y = 5x -8
5) 36x^2-1 = (6x+1)(6x-1) was that so hard?
6) x = [7 +/- (61)^1/2]/2
