Question
Need help with this problem.

Find LCD for these expressions and convert each into an eqivalent rational expression with LCD as the denominator.

-5 over 6x - 12, x over x^2 - 4, 3 over 2x + 4.

Thank you very much for your help.

Answer
Hi Mary Ellen,

The way I would approach this problem is to multiply the first term by the denominator of the second term over itself and the denominator of the third term over itself.

Then do the same thing for the other two terms.  For example, multiply the first term by:
(x^2-4)/(x^2-4) and (2x+4)/(2x+4).

Then, your denominator will be the multiplication of the denominators of all three terms.  So the first term will look like this.

(-5*(x^2+4)*(2x+4))/((6x-12)*(x^2-4)*(2x+4))

I hope this helps you.  Good luck.
