Question
How do you put (2x+1)^2 in standard form

Answer
standard form is a(x-h)^2 + k

(2x+1)^2 = 4x^2 + 4x + 1

= 4(x^2 + x + 1/4)

at this point, we usually complete the square in the expression in the parenthesis. But this expression is already a square

= 4 (x+1/2)^2

= 4 (x-(-1/2))^2 + 0

a = 4 , h = -1/2 , k = 0
