Question
In which body would the absorption of 80 kcal of heat produce the greatest increase in temperature under normal conditions?  
1)1kg of ice at 0 celcius
2)1kg of water at 0 celsius
3)1kg of water at 50 celsius
4)1kg of water at 100 celcius

I know the answer is (2) but please explain.  

Answer
1) would only cause the ice to melt but no temperature change
2) will increase the temperature to 80 degrees celsius
3) will only increase the temperature to 100 degrees and then will cause some evaporation.
4) will only cause some of the water to evaporate without any temperature change.
