Question
Determine the slope of the line that passes through (-8,7) and (5,-2).
Thank you so so much for the help.

Answer
Hi Rose,

The equation for the slope of a line is

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

We are given two points, Point 1 (-8,7), and Point 2 (5,-2).
Therefore, (x1,y1) = (-8,7), and (x2,y2) = (5,-2).

Now, lets plug that into our equation.

m = (-2 - 7)/(5 - (-8)) = -9/13.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Bobby

So, the slope is -9/13
