Question
ive been stuck on the following problems.can you help:\

for the function f(0)=x^2-2x+1

1.  find f(0)

2.  solve f(x)=0

complete the square

3.  x^2+12x+____
4.  x^2-6x+____

solve by completing the square
5.  x^2-6x=16
6.  2x^2-3x+1=0
7.  x^2-x-1=0

thanks

Answer
The function should be f(x) = x^2 -2x +1
1. f(0) = 1
2. x^2 -2x +1 = 0 = (x-1)^2 so x = 1
3. x^2 +12x +36 = (x+6)^2
4. x^2 -6x +9 = (x-3)^2
5. x^2 -6x +9 = 25 so (x-3)^2 = 25 and x = 3 +/-5
6. 2x^2 -3x +9/8 = -1 +9/8
x^2 -(3/2)x +9/16 = 1/16 so (x-3/4)^2=1/16 and x=3/4 +/-1/4
7. x^2 -x +1/4 = 1+1/4
(x -1/2)^2 = 5/4 so x = 1/2 +/- (5^1/2)/2
