Question
12n+2-3n=5-(n-2)

Answer
First of all, you combine terms to get 9n+2 = 7-n
You can add or subtract the same thing from both sides of the equals sign without changing the answer.  You can also multiply or divide both sides by the same thing.
So you add n to both sides to get 10n+2 = 7
then subtract 2 from each side to get 10n = 5
then divide both sides by 10 to get n = 1/2
