Question
1.12-4n=4
2. 7+ k/4=9

Answer
You can add or subtract the same thing from both sides of an equals sign without changing the result.  You can also multiply or divide both sides by the same thing.
1. subtract 12 from each side to get -4n = -8
then divide both sides by -4 to get n = 2
2. subtract 7 from each side to get k/4 = 2
then multiply each side by 4 to get k = 8
