Question
1)(5k2+3k-2)-(8k+7k+2)+(10k2+9k-5)

2)(3/4x4+1/8x2-3/16)+(5/4x2+7/8x+5/16)

3)(1.2z2-0.5z+0.1)+(-0.3z2+2.3z-0.8)

i'm supposed to simplify these but i don't know how. could you help? thanks, mandy

Answer
1) Clear out the () and combine terms
5k^2 +3k -2 -8k -7k -2 +10k^2 +9k -5 = 15k^2 -12k -9
2) I presume you mean (3/4)x^4 and not 3/(4x^4), a big difference
(3/4)x^4 +(1/8)x^2 -3/16 +(5/4)x^2 +(7/8)x +5/16 =
(3/4)x^4 (11/8)x^2 +(7/8)x +1/8
3) 1.2z^2 -0.5z +0.1 -0.3z^2 +2.3z -0.8 = 0.9z^2+1.8z-0.7
