Question
I was wondering if you ever remove experts for incompetence. I am an expert here (I'd rather not reveal mu username or exactly in what category) and there are a few others in the category who are fine. This is balanced out by two who give sometimes laughably incorrect advice, and when they are not incorrect, they are, as a rule, sadly incomplete. In fact, their answers are often exactly what one would expect from the a person quite inEXPERT in the subject area. I certainly understand that the site garners revenue by drawing more people, so it could be seen that the more experts the better. However, bad advice can be damaging to the site's reputation.

Answer
Yes. We remove volunteers if their ratings are consistently low or if we receive legitimate complaints from their peers or questioners. The majority of the time, however, volunteers who do not perform up to par resign on their own. Most people can only take so many negative ratings and comments from questioners before getting discouraged.

Hope this answers your question,
Katie
