Question
Hi Katie,
I recently got a rude rating from a reader who asked me a trivial question.
Instead of responding with the usual "I do not do any homework questions" I
actually bothered and told him that he could do a google search. He then
replies to me with the text below. Is there any way I can respond to this
person because I feel wronged. It's not fair for comments to go only one way.
I have been an expert for over 6 years and never received such a comment.
I'm thinking of reviewing my committments in light of recent events.

Kind regards,

Mohamad:
An "expert" does not tell people to "try to do a google search." I can and have
done this without your telling me.  If you want high points you need to earn
it.

Answer
To prevent things like these, you should use the "Explain to the questioner why you can't answer this question." option instead of the "Answer this question" option to tell someone they should do a Google search. This way, the questioner won't expect an answer from you and they won't be able to rate you.

Hope this helps and
thanks for volunteering,
Katie
