Question
I believe the Allman brothers album titled "Eat a Peach" was in memory of Greg's Brother Duane.  Where did they come up with the title and why are peaches always at their concerts?

Thank you.

Answer
In a 1970 FM radio broadcast from Atlanta-Duanes only live interview-well that night he told the host that each day in Macon he would Eat a Peach for Peace--now realize that the Vietnam Conflict was raging at that time-that and Georgia is known as the Peach State(one of our main crops to the day)the ABB hold the trademark on that Peach emblem-not only is it used at every concert but is on each cd and most fansites and artwork.Duane was alive when they started the eat a Peach album-naturally after his motorcycle wreck they finished the album and dedicated it to him--several other albums by other artists have also been dedicated to him-others dedicated to Berry Oakley as well-both men are buried side by side in Macon at Rose Hill cemetary-a lovely site it is-as far as cemetarys go that is--Berry was quoted saying We got it right, like Hittin The Note--so that is where that saying came from. Also word was at 1st that Duane was ran over by a Peach truck In macon Ga--he did die in Macon where he lived but it was not actually a Peach Truck--Berry was killed in a similar fashion not far from Duanes death-a few months later--uncanny a bit huh.In closin check out Derek and The Dominoes-Layla and other assorted Love songs--Duane and Clapton both play lead on it-if you werent aware of that allready-Duane had 3 Anthology discs too-all are great-then u got all his work with ABB on the 1st few albums at least--Skynyrds freebird was wrote for Duane-his nickname was Skydog--etc etc..glad yer a fan...Keep the Faith
