Alternative Medicine/Flintstone Vitamin for 87 yr old

Question
Hello, I took my Grandma to the Doctor yesterday and she explained to her that she is unable to drink "Ensure" or "boost" anymore because it gives her diarrhea. Her Doctor suggested that she instead take 2 Flintstone vitamins everyday.  My Grandma just told me that she doesn't think vitamins for a growing child would be right for her. Could you please clear this up for us?  Thank you, Jennifer Turner

Answer
Hi Jennifer,
I thjnk that the doctor's suggestion is good. Vitamin supplementation is appropriate for someone who may be nutritionally deficient. The dose of 2 tablets recommended is approrpriate for an adult as compared to 1 tablet which is the recommendation for a child. The chewable tablets taste good and are easier to take than a large tablet designed for adults. Many adults have difficulties in swallowing the large tablets.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
