Question
I'm a college student who has been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety
Disorder. I recently started taking St Johns Wort in hopes of ridding myself of
anxiety. I refuse to take any type of medicine that is known for the side effects. I
was wondering though if St Johns Wort and alcohol are safe together.

Answer
Hello Sarah
St John's Wort is used for mild to moderate depression, sometimes with anxiety.  St Johns Wort is not known to interact with alcohol.  But each person is different, so make sure you monitor for any adverse reactions.
Remember also that if the herb does not help improve your condition within 2-3 months, you should seek out other options for care.  There may be other natural treatments and/ or medications needed.
Thanks for your question.  Good luck.
