Alternative Medicine/H-Pylori
Expert: Tonja Wells - 10/7/2008
QuestionGood morning. My 70 year old mother was just diagnosed with H-Pylori. She has always been in good health, no serious health problems. She has stomach pain, gets uncomfortable after eating. She has always watched what she ate, and takes good care of herself. Emotionally, stress has affected her, my father has had cancer a few times and presently found out that it is back. What would you reccomend for her to take that is natural? A friend told me about wild oregano oil, and I am aware of Medical Food from Metagenics for gastro problems, which is filled with vitamins. Thank you in advance, Susan
AnswerHello Susan,
I have a formual which many have used very successfully with H- Pylori. Many get quick relief but it is suggested to follow the diretions for 3 month to reverse the issue.
It is called Gatro Health. If she is dealing with emotinal stress then I would also choose Chinse Stress Relief.

Below is a handout I have for helping with stress.
ADRENAL GLAND STRESSES AND WHAT TO USE INSTEAD
1. Sugar - Instead: Use NSP’s stevia or xylitol- an all natural herbal sweetener that gives you a sweet taste without feeding candida, raising your blood sugar or robbing your body of minerals.
2. Coffee - Instead: Replace your morning cup of adrenaline boosting coffee with a green drink (Ultimate Green Zone) or NSP’s herbal beverage of roasted barley & Chicory.
3. Too much of the wrong proteins - most people don't have enough stomach acid to digest animal protein properly, creating an acidic condition in their blood. – Instead: Take HCL enzymes or Safflower to break down heavy proteins or switch to lighter proteins like fish/turkey and chicken.
4. Processed foods strip your body of minerals making your blood acidic and your adrenals weaken quickly. Over time you will look and feel older than your age. This is one of the most important anti-aging secrets to delay and even reverse old age. - Instead: Use a colloidal mineral supplement daily (Mineral Chi Tonic) and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
5. Soda pop - Instead: Use organic lemon juice sweetened with Stevia or Xylitol to make all natural lemonade or drink water.
6. Drugs stress out the adrenal glands - this includes over the counter, recreational and prescription drugs. Talk to your health care professional about alternatives. Never go off medication without the help or consent of your doctor.
7. Stress – Instead: Get plenty of rest, fresh air and heal negative emotions. Take time for self-care routines like breathing, exercise and prayer. Get plenty of sleep. Negative thoughts and emotions can sabotage your best efforts at relaxing.
8. Being a couch potato – Instead Exercise: Cardiovascular exercise 3 to 4 times a week for 30 minutes a day is suggested. Be sure to consult your health care professional before embarking on any exercise program. Regular exercise produces endorphins, which generate a more positive attitude and an overall sense of well-being. Exercise cleanses your body AND mind!
Those with adrenal problems:
1. Need quality protein which are good for their blood type.
2. Worst enemy is caffeine and sugar – Caffeine whips the adrenals.
3. Hypoglycemia can also be related to alcoholism.
4. Food allergies can affect blood sugar. Trigger foods can include dairy, wheat corn and soy.
6. Need to eat 6 small meals a day and include a quality protein.
5. Need whole grains or even better sprouted grains like Ezekiel bread + B’s & C’s.
6. Chromium or Colloidal Minerals will stabilize the blood sugar levels and reduce cravings for sweets
7. Add adapagen herbs to feed and nourish the adrenal glands and nervous system
Foods That Support the Adrenals

b. Select many green leafy vegetables
c. Increase the number of servings of fresh fruits and vegetables
d. Eat nuts, seeds and legumes
e. Choose whole grains, sprouted grains and whole grain rice instead of white.
f. Eat lots of garlic, onions, and mushrooms – especially shitake mushrooms
g. Eat deep-ocean fish 3x per week
Avoid:
a. White flour, sugar, sodas and refined foods
b. Caffeine

The adrenals are not kind. When the adrenals go, they pull the thyroid with them. Eat sea vegetables, fish from the sea and black walnuts to feed the thyroid foods high in iodine.
FOODS TO FEED THE ADRENALS:
A craving for salt is one sign of adrenal stress. -Feed the glands with juices and foods that are high in organic sodium. Beets, Spinach, Parsley, Celery & Carrots
Foods rich in Pantothenic acid: Mushrooms, split peas, perch, pecans, lightly cooked egg yolks, broccoli, cauliflower, kale & lecithin. These all stimulate the adrenal glands to produce hormones and increase output in response to stress.
Anti-stress hormones are also produced in vitamin C rich foods. Foods high in vitamin C are hot and sweet peppers, kale, parsley, broccoli, brussel sprouts, red cabbage, rose-hip tea, citrus fruits & strawberries.
STRESS ELIMINATORS - Simple lifestyle changes:
1. Eat steadily, all day long.
2. Eat More Raw Uncooked Food.
3. Remove Negative Emotions and Negative talk
4. Implement Positive Goals.
5. If you "add" something to your day you will have to "subtract" something else from your day.
6. Be assertive with people about your time.
7. Breathe
8. Pay off your sleep debt.
9. Avoid energy-zappers. A variety of toxins in food and the environment contribute to a heightened adrenal response.
10. Start your day with a good breakfast
11. Stress management has a lot to do with controlling what you see and hear, so choose wisely.
12. Avoid sugar, caffeine, alcohol, drugs and food additives.
13. Pain killers will dull the function of the nervous system
14. Exercise is powerful natural antidepressant.
15. Get up every hour or so during work and take a break - walk down the hall and back or do some sitting or standing stretching exercises.
16. Keep a rubber ball or silly putty at your desk and squeeze or pull it when you feel stressed.
17. Listen to soothing music or nature sounds in your office or turn over a rain stick and relax.
18. If you are allowed breaks, take a 5 to 15 minute power nap.
19. Take a brisk power walk at lunch time to get your blood circulating.
20. Don’t create stress.
