Alternative Medicine/My dad.
Expert: Tonja Wells - 12/26/2008
QuestionMy father is having seizures. He just started having them in the past year. First time ever, anyway he keeps having them, some of them last up to seven minutes! Doctors just keep saying they dont know what to do. My dad is not a waste of time! He has them sometimes a couple a month or he will go months without them. My dad is 57 years old 5'11 about 165lbs or so and generally very energetic. He only gets seizures through the night. The doctors have him on Dilatin or something like that but it wears him out and with his job, That is not working. We'd like something more natural I just am worried dont know what to do, I want to help him. Thanks,
Erin
AnswerHello Erin,
Did anything happen around the time of the seizures to possibly start them? Hitting his head? Accident? Emotional upset? Was he around heavy metals? Did he change his diet add more food dyes? wheat, dairy?
Short of having a heatlh history, here is what I would use if it were me.
Gaba plus: Prevents nerve cells from over-firing by making them less suceptible to stimuli and helps balance neurotramitters and because of the way the formula I use is formualted it provides circulation to the brain.
Lots and lots of good oils in his diet.
1. Lots of ocean caught or wild caught fish
2. Nuts not peanuts
3. Olives
4. Extra virgin Olive oil
5. Avacado's
Flax Seed oil
Magnesium Complex as a relaxant
Focus Attention Capsules or powder
B complex for the nervous system
Thyroid can also be an issue. I would look at thyroid/liver blood work to see what was going on there as well. Was he around any radiation? Flying a lot? Natural Iodine can be helpful like Thyroid Activator or Thyroid support but I would need to know much more.
