Alternative Medicine/2 questions

QuestionHello! I have two questions.
First question: Am I taking too many supplements? Currently, I take daily:
Multivitamin 1x
Vitamin D 1000 IU 2x
Vtamin C 1000 mg 2x
Calcium 600 mg (plus Vit D 400 IU) 3x
Super B complex (includes all b vitamins + folic acid) 2x
Magnesium 250 mg 1x
Iron 18mg 2-3x
Fruit and Vegetable supplement 2x
Antioxidant formula 2x
Fish oil
Coenzyme Q 10 30mg 3-4x
Besides these, I'm on two perscription medications: Synthroid 1x daily for my thyroid removal and minocycline for acne.
Is all of this OKay??
Second question:
I am confused about Iron. I need iron because I'm a vegetarian and my iron levels always seem to be on the low side. So, I've dosages of "325 = 65mg" and then I've seen 18mg. I've taken both, but what's the difference? I had been taking the 325 = 65mg 3x daily for about two years and it never bothered me. But, now I'm taking the 18mg. I find it hard to beleive that only two types of dosages are made, 65 and 18. And it's such a large difference between the two! What's the difference between the 65mg and the 18mg? Is the 65 really THAT much more than the 18mg, or is it absorbed differently because of the ferrous sulfate? I just don't understand it.
AnswerFirst I would want to know your blood type as O and B blood types don't want to take a multi but chelated minerals like Mineral Chi Tonic.
Second I would want to know what kind of calcium you are taking as most are taking carbonate and that is chalk. It pushes your calcium out of solutions and creates more structural issues
If your iron is synthenic it constipates you and you are probably getting enough in your multi. But taking Yellow Doc or I-X which are herbal sources are much better to utilize and help quicker without constipating and causing diarreah if it is organic.
You also want to make sure your fish oil is mercury free. If you are not taking in a mercury free source of oil you are doing yourself a great diservice.
I would address the acne naturally but would need to know where the acne is and need a lot more information. If I were you I would see what the side effects and long term effects of minocycline is as it is not addressing the root issue, but having said that I would NEVER tell you to go off of it as only your doctor can tell you that. If there is acne then that is often telling me the liver needs address and you would want to work naturally to detox the liver.
All of these are fine to take together but the quality will have everything to do with their effectivness and if if I would suggest them. Most of them are basic building blocks of good nutrition (see below)

Below you will see the building blocks to good nutrition.
What are the essential building blocks to good nutrition?
1. Enzymes to break down foods and aid in digestion/elimination. Plant based enzymes are good choices.
2. Probiotics are essential for good flora, which should naturally inhabit the intestinal track. Probiotics inhibit growth of toxic bacteria and yeast. They are essential for the development of a child’s natural defenses. Probiotics reduce liver stress, enhance intestinal function and “sweeten” the gut.
3. Minerals have 3 major functions: 1) they provide the structural materials for building bones and connective tissue; 2) they facilitate the production of both neurotransmitters and hormones; and 3) they function as an integral part of chemical and enzyme reactions, such as the manufacturing of proteins and replicating of DNA. Most Americans have severe mineral malnutrition, as our soil is void of minerals. Take minerals if you need an energy boost, and to be certain that your body is receiving the 64 minerals our bodies need DAILY.
4. Greens – A green drink with a 3/030/40 nutrient value provides complete whole grain nutrition and a balance of protein, essential amino acids, vitamins, EFA’s and minerals. It provides antioxidant protection, encourages growth of healthy colonic flora, supports the digestion, assists detoxification of the liver and kidneys, and helps protect the body. It is an excellent way to begin any day.
5. Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) – Flax See, Omega 3’s and Evening Primrose oil are but a few of the essential fatty acids to choose from. EFA’s help with various chronic degenerative diseases. Research has confirmed the positive result of EFA supplementation for more than 60 major health concerns, including allergies, breast tenderness, cancer, heart disease, intestinal disorders, menopause, neurological disease, skin issues, and autoimmune disorders. Stay away from hydrogenated oils, like margarine and vegetable oils. Use extra virgin olive oil or grape seed oil instead.
Concerning the iron. I would not do either. I would do yellow doc or a formual called I-X. Natural sources of iron are much better. Do you KNOW your iron levels are low??? It is important to know this. If you are and O or a B blood type it is not a good idea to be a vegetarian.
