AboutAsk Suz Expertise I can answer questions regarding helping or curing various diseases and ailments as well as make suggestions on what not to do and give my opinion on what traditional medicine says on the subject given. I believe we need doctors for certain problems such as broken bones but I personally have rarely seen a doctor in over ten years. I take over ten supplements per day at age sixty-two. I will do my best to assist in anything from minor infections to major disease but will readily admit when I cannot offer someone any help. I have discovered a fairly novel approach to weightloss in which I have lost ten pounds.
Experience I have been helping heal myself, friends and family for ten years and have studied alternative medicine for fifteen years beginning in

Question Hello. I have read on several sites on the internet recently that extracts from the pawpaw twigs can help to destroy malignant cancer cells with what sounds like a very convincing reason why. they say that the extracts target cells in the body that use alot of energy and because cancer cells use alot of energy it attacks them from the inside out. is this true? at least on a low level. could it be used as a prevention method on people with a very high risk of cancer in their family such as me? and if so why havnt scientists harnessed their power? thank you for your help. sorry if my question sounds ridiculous
Answer Hi Leigh,
Pawpaw is just one of hundreds, if not more of naturally growing substances in nature that destroy cancer cells. It is one of the newest discovered, however, so hasn't had as much attention as older ones such as , say, Turmeric or Curcumin.
As far as "harnessing" the active ingredients, a Dr McLaughlin is working with a vitamin producing company in Utah to market pawpaw twigs. And people are always eager to jump on the newest substance just as more are being discovered. The Food and Drug Administration, however, will continue to "warn" people of the Dangers of untested
remedies; there is no money for them in seeds and berries. Money is the operative word in the pharmaceutical industry.
In general, paw paw should not be used for any sustained, prolonged time unless abnormal cells are present. In the absence of cancer cells, the paw paw will be attracted to other cells in the body that are "high energy usage" cells. They could be anywhere, but the likely candidates are in the digestive and intestinal systems. Because of that, paw paw should not be used as a preventative. It is sometimes used for short durations (less than one month) internally for parasites. Thus, if a cancer patient is determined to be cancer-free, they should generally stop taking it no more than a month later. Often, the person may come back and take it for short durations (about a week) each month. However, sustained, prolonged usage is usually ended.
If a preventative is being considered, it is probably wiser to consider things that build and support the immune system, such as a beta-glucans product and a high antioxidant product. There are several good liquid antioxidants available, one of which is mangosteen juice. If you choose to go that route, consider a mangosteen juice that is high in xanthones and without any harmful preservatives. Vitacost sells beta-glucan as do other websites such as Swanson Vitamins.
Paw paw is also effective against lice, parasites, and plant pests.
If I had , say, parents who both died of cancer I'm sure I'd be juicing daily. I would buy a sugar substitute (we use DiabetiSweet in our family which is delicious)and a Jack LaLanne juicer. I would rotate beets, cabbage (most important), broccoli and carrots. I'd experiment with apples and blueberries to make the juice more palatable. VitaMix makes an expensive mixer that cooks too. Of course, cooking destroys a lot of enzymes in the fruits and vegetables. Then I'd eat beef and potatoes Very sparingly. I would continue to take my 2,000mg of fish oil daily (fish contains high mercury levels now) and read up on seaweed supplementation. I'd take the best multi-vitamin I could find with no copper in it. In fact, I am looking for one now and may use one from the Life Extension Foundation collection. I would continue to take my Vitamin D3, 2,000 mg capsule because I don't spend much time outdoors so I'm not getting my vitamin D from the sun. And of course I'd take thousands of milligrams of Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids daily. I would not consider relying on just One cancer fighter such as pawpaw twigs, especially since it is not to be used for prevention. Everyone should take a good probiotic every single day. Many people believe that "all disease starts in the colon."
I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck. Suz
