Question
i had my jaw widened with a hyrax 6 months ago and i was reading that when you widen your jaw manually it puts strain on other parts of your head.  Orthadontists just pay attention to the part they are focusing but don't see the body as one machine.  Do you have any recommendations  on how to "balance" ur bone structure osteopathically or any books to read?

Answer
Hi John, you are correct that when you apply a force to any one part of the cranium, it will affect the biomechanical forces on the rest of the structure.  I would suggest you go to http://www.cranialacademy.org/ which is the website for the cranial academy and you will find some basic information, a book list to learn more about the subject, and also a physician finder by location to seek a cranial academy member in your area that could evaluate you and provide treatment or make suggestions.  Good luck and thanks for the interest.  Tom
