QuestionHello Ms. Wells,
I am shopping around for a "good" brand of Omega 3. There is soooo much information out there that I am starting to get a bit overwhelmed. Do you have a few suggestions you could pass along ? I am a 49 year old woman who is not on any medications. I am experiencing symptoms of menopause. All the results of my past blood tests are good except that my triglycerides are high.
I am currently taking an over the counter multi vitamin but not sure that an over the counter vitamin is even good for me ?
I would like to take a multi vitamin, an Omega 3 and am thinking about take Calcium as well.
Do you have any suggestions on brands for the Omega 3 and multi vitamin ? Thanks for your help !

AnswerFirst let me say that I would never us an over the counter multi vitamn. It is often synthetic and if that is the case will clog the liver. O and B blood types need minerals more than a multi.
I suggest Mineral Chi tonic as a much better choice.
Where Omega's are conerned, you get what you pay for. Many of them have mercury in them. That is why I use Super Omega Three from the company on my web site below. You never want mercury in your Omegas as it defeats the purpose.
Where Calcium is concerned it also very important to get the one right for you. Age&calcium/phosphorus ratio (on blood work) are very important here. It will let you know if you are utilizing the calcium you are taking.
Never use calcium carbonate as it is chalk and does not help with bone health. Knowing you are 49 I would suggest Skeltal Strenght as it has multiple types of utiliziable calciums. I would also suggest HSN-W as it helps you utilized your calcium and helps with hair, skin and nail issues. Taking calcium at bedtime is optimal as you absorb your calcium while you sleep and also remember you can only absorb 500 mg at a time. Many junk calciums say they have 1000 mg and more but it is often chalk and not a good choice.
Lowering High Triglycerides
1. Work with pituitary – Super Algae, Potassium or Magnesium - depends on other health needs.
2. Work with digestive system – Proactazyme Plus (using this formula between meals)
3. Balance electrolytes - Cellular Energy – helps the adrenals balance mineral electrolytes
It is essental to get high triglycerides down. This is more important to heart health than cholesterol.
For menopause I would need to do a client consult as there are so many factors and it takes multipe questions to determine the basics of the menopause symptoms.
Here is some info on menopause but thyroid/pituitary/adrnals are all basic issues where menopause is concerened.
MENOPAUSE AND HOT FLASHES
Menopause related symptoms: Hot flashes, Heart Palpitations, Vertigo, Weakness, Fatigue, Loss of sex drive,
Changes in skin tone, Incontinence, Weight gain, Loss of memory, Mood swings, Headache, Anxiety, Bladder problems, Breast Tenderness, Thinning of the skin, Vagina dryness, Painful intercourse, Shortness of breath,
Low thyroid. Some of these symptoms will affect 75% off all women regardless of whether their menopause was surgical or natural. Hot flashes can begin as early as 35 or as late as 55.
Hot flash Triggers
Spicy foods, Acid foods, Hot drinks, Caffeine, Alcoholic beverages, White sugar, Hydrogenated and saturated fats, Stress, Hot weather, Hot tubs and saunas, Tobacco, Marijuana, Intense exercise, Anger, Commercial beef, Poultry, Eggs
Suggested Supplements:
Female Comfort, Master Gland, Super Algae, Colloidal Minerals, FlashEase, Black cohosh, Dong Quai, Adrenal & Thyroid Support herbs, Licorice, C-X, Vitamin E, Pro-G-Yam Cream, Evening Primrose Oil, B complex, Phyto Soy, Nuts, seeds, eggs, vegetables
Avoid foods with antibiotics. The liver is responsible for preparing the cholesterol for the ovaries and adrenals to make hormones out of and detoxifying any excess hormones. Chronic stress depletes the adrenals.
Aromatic Relief
10 drops clary sage
10 drops geranium
5 drops lemon
50 ml evening primrose oil
Massage on Abdomen
COOL FLASH SPRAY - Herbal Companion – Flash Ease, C-X and Mineral Chi Tonic
2 ounces pure water
3drops Clary Sage
3 drops Chamomile 3 drops Geranium
1 drop Pine
2 drops Peppermint
Pour water into spray bottle, add the essential oils and shake to mix. Spritz yourself when you feel the hot flash coming. Refrigerate for greater effect. Shake well before each use. To make spritzers fill the glass bottle to the shoulder with purified water. Drop in the oil, replace the spritzer lid and shake well. Remember to shake the bottle well before each misting.
NON-SUPPLEMENTS
Prayer, laughter and gentle exercise are great non-supplement. Exercise has a direct impact on reducing hot flashes by balancing the hypothalamus, which reduces the amount of LH and FSH, and increases the amount of endorphins, the feel good neurotransmitters, which are depleted during hot flashes.
OSTEOPROSIS
Skeletal Strength, Minerals, Pro-G-Yam Cream. Regular Exercise is essential. pH balancing is the key.
