Expert: Tonja Wells - 8/29/2008
Question I had a tooth extracted 10 days ago and the oral surgeon gave me a prescription for a mouth wash that had blue dye in it. I didn't take it and instead started rinsing with salt water. At my check up three days ago he was not happy and said it looked like there might be an infection starting and to come back if I have any problems. I bought some Oil of Oregano and yesterday swallowed two drops in water and rinsed my mouth with two drops. My question is, how often and how much should I take orally as well as a rinse.
Many thanks for your reply.
Answer Oregano oil is very strong and if it is pure oil I would be very careful about injesting very much if any. I would personally use silver shield. If you do continue to use the oil I would was and spit it out.
I would also consider using olive leaf and high potency garlic.
I also carry a mouth wash with xylitol in it, which kills bacterial, which would make a much better mouth wash.
You can find all these and more on my web site at
